Hi,
I've been researching the above issue all weekend and can't seem to work out the solution. The details of my pain are below, but the questions to all you experts out there (especially those of you with your own Exchange Servers is.... What is the error message returned by ActiveSync if the Exchange Server has not been enabled for mobile connection?

Here's the reason for asking. I'm not saying my IT department are uncooperative, but I can't seem to get them to acknowledge that they've performed the crutial steps of enabling ActiveSync on 'thier end' although they have confirmed they're running SP2.

I've read a bunch of forums and blogs on the issue above. I followed instructions on how to retreive a cert through QWM, but the Base64 version returned a "Cannot access certificate". I was able to install the DER version using this method though. I also created a CAB from the B64 version and that seemed to install just fine.

I also saw the (unsecure?) registryupdate that changed the value of hklm/Security/Policies/Policies/000001017 from 128 to 144, but when I looked in my registry (T-Mobile os 2.16.9.1 gsm 2.7.10 ipl 2.16 with internet2.voicestream.com and wap.voicestream.com added appropriately (and working fine)) the value was set to 148.

When trying to add a new server in ActiveSync on the desktop pc, I find a curious circumstance. If I key in my servername (SSL enabled), username, password and domain *correctly* I get the message "No Microsoft Exhange Server was detected at the specified address..." but if I enter an *incorrect* password I get the message "Mixrosoft Wxchange Server did not accept your logon credentials... ".. Fairly curious but seemingly pointing towards the fact that my IT department have not checked the checkboxes to enable.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance, E
