Add vibration to buttons to buttons when dialing

I found the following tweak on mdatweak.com. The tweak makes your HTC Wizard vibrate when you dial numbers on the dial pad. That's nice, since many people feel like they have little control over the dial pad because of the lack of anything that feels responsive.

Using a registry editor navigate to the following keys and follow the directions. Do this for each of the listed registy keys

  1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter Sound to Sound1
  2. Create new String Parameter Sound
  3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf*
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf2
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf3
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf4
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf5
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf6
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf7
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf8
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf9

Please be patient, refrain from screaming (caps), and begging and maybe people will be more inclinded to help. Also try looking around for your answers, they have probably already been answered.

He did give a pretty detailed account of this tweAk. As far as operating registry editors, that has already been explained using Total Commander (from http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/142) :

Quote:
To access the registry you should navigate to \\\registry (yep, that’s 3 backslashes). You will find yourself at the top of the registriy hierarchy. From there on you can navigate to any place in the registry to change settings, add settings or remove settings.

To access the files in this tweak, follow the URL. Be careful editing the registry as you can cause harm to your set up. You might want to start with an easier tweak to get the hang of it. To creat e a new entry, click +Add value+. Then you choose the type you want to assign the new entry. Lastly you can edit that value.

Reset the wizard and it should work.

Try an easier one:
http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/144

and see if it works.

At first I couldn't get this to work on my 8125, but now it does. Here's what messed me up: this should not be a DWORD value, but a regular STRING value. The value should be "*vibrate*" without the quotes, but with the asterisks. Hope that helps.

Here's what I did:
1. Using Total Commander, goto \\\registry\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
2. Under this key, change the name of Sound to Sound1 (This is only so you can go back at a lter time, if you don't care, don't do this)
3. Create a new STRING parameter and name it sound
4. Put in *vibrate* (with the asterisks (*)) as the value.
5. Now restart, make sure your phone is on vibrate or ring (not silent), open up the keypad and press the # key. If it vibrates, continue on, if not, recheck the first steps.
6. Go back to \\\registry\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
7. Highlight the keys Sound and Sound1, Hold-click to bring up the menu.
8. Choose Copy/Move.
9. Change the directory to \\\registry\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1\*.* (replace the # with a 1).
10. Continue to do this for each keypad symbol (*, 1-9, 0).
