Call for input

A few days ago I wrote this article about the need to start further categorizing the content of the HTC Wizard Handbook and of course adding more content to the handbook. To my deep regret that article got no response at all.

Times are quite busy for me right now, so I don't have time to go digging for information myself. That shouldn't be a problem, we have over 1600 members by now, there are bound to be some members who can add content, and there is discussion going on in the forum every day. So, the HTC Wizard Web will survive a few days without me adding content, and that's how it should be. Great!

That I don't have time to go digging for new content doesn't mean that I cannot add content. Writing content is not what is the most time consuming part of adding content, it is the digging for topics and information.

I am eager to add new content, and I am asking you to help doing the digging for me or others. You don't have to write new content yourself (but do feel free to do so if you want to), if you come up with a topic and some pointers to sources of information about that topic, I can and will write the content.

The same goes for categorisation of the handbook. I have my own ideas about how it can be done, but this is a community site. I am not the one to decide, there should be consensus among the members of the community. So again, I am asking you to let me know how you think the handbook should be categorized. I will let you all now what my ideas are in the comments.

I'd like to make one more comment on the content some people have added lately. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any effort made by any member to contribute. However, it seems people have trouble distinguishing content that should go in the forum from content that can be posted in a blog entry that is promoted to the frontpage.

If you want to share some information you found, want to share your thoughts or if you want to share your opinion, it is fine to write a blog entry and promote it to the frontpage. The idea of a blog entry is that you give some information to the community.

If you have a question, please ask it in the forum. The forum is there for people who need something from the community.

If you are not sure where to post your content, either ask me first by sending me a PM, or write your blog entry without promoting it to the frontpage and ask me then. I am more than happy to help you.

Perhaps a simple way to start would be for us Wizard users to start writing reviews of the programs we use and like on our wizards, as long as they are not already in the handbook.
This does not require a lot of research and is useful information.
I like to learn about programs that work well and I hate installing programs that do not work and mess up my system and can not be de-installed properly (a few of those around).

I'll start working on mine. And perhaps a good start would be a good screen dump program so we can all include screen dumps in our reviews.

Good idea?

I would do this, but currently i've been working on the cabifier for Registry Entries in my spare time. (I'm not even messing with the Wizard itself much at this point - short of basic functions.)

I'll get back on new content when I've got this program in working order.

Though I don't want to create the impression that there is some obligation for members to write content, if anyone were to be excused for not writing some it would be you.
