I don't have the time to download and install it myself right now, but I thought many of you would be very interested to know that ActiveSync 4.2 beta Preview is now available. You can find it here, and it goes without saying that I and many others would like to hear about your experiences and thoughts.

I have been trying it out this morning, and I am yet to make a successful connection between my T-Mobile MDA Vario, and my PC.

That's not saying it's any worse than the previous version of ActiveSync, as I always had an uphill struggle to get it to work as well. But so far, it doesn't seem any better.

This isn't to say that everyone's experience will be like mine:

-It connected fine
-The sync appeared slower than usual
-One of my calendar appointments failed to transfer (warning appeared)

Any of these things could have for unrelated reasons, but as more people comment a pattern may emerge.

I had not been able to connect my Cingular 8125 to my computer to sync music in the desktop version of Windows Media 10.0 or in the Yahoo music engine. Once I installed the beta, it worked. I noticed the install updated some drivers that may have been the fix.

I just installed Activesync 4.2 beta, after having completely removing ActiveSync 4.1, first uninstalling, then deleting the directory and then removing any references to it in the registry. Then installed 4.2 and it sync'd perfectly w/ my PDA.

The old 4.1 Activesync had problems syncing with my previous 8125 last month, not sure if it was the Phone itself, the Nokia PC Suite I had running as well, if it was that the service Office Source Engine was disabled, or if it was something else. But now it appears to work.

The old one was syncing for the most part, but some data was not sync'd, certain contact entries and such. It was a partial sync, tried via Bluetooth and USB, same error message.

Anyways, hope 4.2 is the answer for me from this point forward.

It works perfectly on my computer everything syncs just fine and it seems to work a bit faster than 4.1 for me. However, my brothers phone still refuses to sync with his computer. Seems to be a driver issue if I can't fix it soon I'll ask for help on the forum for him.

I have actually been using it since April 30th and to date it has not missed a beat with any of my devices (K-Jam, PDA2k, iPaq 5550). I did read a caution on the xda-developerssite not to use it when dowengrading or upgrading ROMs, so when I downgraded to unlock the CID and upgraded to Summiter's 2.3 ROM I revered to 4.1 on aother computer to perform the upgrades.

I had 4.2 downloaded a couple weeks ago and all worked well, I normally sync my phone and computer every night but I started to get real busy for a couple days and didn't sync. I came back to sync and I got any error that the device couldn't fully sync, to try again later. I keep receiving that same message everytime that I tried to sync so of course I uninstalled and re-installed and everything was fine after the re-install and now after a day or so I have been experiencing the same error message.

Just wanted to share the info, no fix as of yet still trying to figure out why it's happening. Any suggestions are welcome, as well my MDA has not been upgraded with the new ROM as well because of this. Not sure if that is the full problem.
