Stereo Bluetooth on your HTC Wizard

The AKU2 ROMS for the HTC Wizard that have been released in the last month have been a welcome treat to many HTC Wizard owners, but A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth) not being included has been just as big a dissapointment. Well, the people at the XDA Developers Forum did it again!

Note: an update about this topic can be found on www.htcwizardweb.net/node/304. This update contains a short and easy instruction to apply this tweak.

You probably all remember that a leaked test ROM from Qtek included A2DP, but A2DP was not included in the final release because Qtek, and as it turned out other manufacterers as well, were not happy with the quality and stability. However, A2DP worked good enough in the leaked ROM to get many users to either keep using that ROM, or ask for a way to include A2DP in the official AKU2 ROMs in some way. The people at the XDA Developers Forum have now managed to do exactly that.

Have a look at this topic on the XDA Developers Forum. You'll find all the directions you need to get A2DP on your HTC Wizard.

The topic refers to another topic where the original discovery of this possibility was published. You will find all the necessary files there. You need to be registered and logged in to see and download the files!

Please note the following:

  • This only works if you are running an AKU2 ROM
  • The original tweak (2nd topic) was done for the HTC Tornado, but works on the HTC Wizard as well. But....,
  • The .cab file containing the required registry keys in the 2nd topic was made for the HTC Tornado, and will not work on the HTC Wizard
  • The instructions for putting the required registry keys are in the 1st topic. You will have to put them on your HTC Wizard manualy.
  • Don't forget to perform a soft reset after applying the tweak. Hold the Power button for 5 seconds and confirm

I don't have time to copy all the instructions and attach the required files to this article right now. If anyone feels the urge to copy the instructions in the comments, please do so. Try to use the formatting that is being used in other handbook entries so the handbook lay-out remains somewhat consistent. I will add the instructions to this article later.

I am very interested to hear about your experiences.

Nice find with this. I haven't been on XDA-Devs as much as I used to, so I missed it. This is deffinetly worth a PPCT Frontpage post, with a source link to this piece, of course.

Thank you for the .cab. It works and it sounds fantastic except for the skipping which is worse than the inherent bluetooth stereo audio skipping (when compared with my Anycom USB-250 Bluetooth Adapter.

I just moved the whole .cab to my documents and double clicked the executable it took care of the rest. I rebooted, deleted the S9 and rebooted again and reinstalled and presto "Sunshine daydream"

I just wish I had found this article 2 hours earlier. Like just before before I ordered the Jabra bluetooth 3.5mm audio adapter (which amazon claims they are getting ready to ship and can not be canceled and bought the radio shak 2.5mm - 3.5mm adapter
