Strong Signal - Changeable?Submitted by taylorish on Tue, 30/09/2008 - 00:50. Accessories
I had to put my T-Mobile MDA Vario in to T-Mobile for repair as it kept telling me there was a memory problem and wouldn't run. They sent me back a replacement, not my original unit, that worked fine. However, over the next few months I noticed that I began to get a strange feeling in my ear/head/teeth when using the handset for any length of time, which I found worrying. I had never had this problem with my original Vario handset. My contract came to an end and I was keen to get a different PDA, with which I am happy, but I would like to find out if my replacement Vario could be repaired or if it has just exceeded it's natural lifespan. The latter would be annoying as the phone cost so much and I feel it would go on happily for ever in all other respects bar this strangely strong signal (or whatever) it seems to be emitting all the time. How does the phone know what signal strength to emit? I think I have read somewhere that phones can alter their signal strength according to how far away they are from the transmitter. Anyone know if this is true and could it be that my phone has an error in determining what the signal strength should be and is 'turned on full' all the time? Also if this problem is repairable and if so who would do it. Many thanks -- taylorish's blog | login or register to post comments | delicious | digg | reddit | technorati | 208 reads
