The first thing I did when I got my HTC Wizard in the mail off ebay was see how I could make it better.
HtcWizardweb.net and xda-developers.com proved to be amazing resources

HTCWizardWeb's handbook provides a good overview of the basic terms and function of the Wizard and XDA-Developer's Wiki go into depth and discussion at a much higher level. YOU HAVE TO SEARCH AND READ. THERE ARE A LOT OF ANSWERS THERE BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK FOR THEM. I recommend reading the Stickies and wiki first so you can feel at least a little more comfortable with the terminology used.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED: The difference between the G3 & G4 version of the Wizard if you don't know this you are in trouble
THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED: How to CID unlock my Wizard here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332320
Following this tutorial worked!

Once I had my Wizard CID unlocked (hard SPL). I moved on to trying out to get a different ROM on my machine. This was very frustrating because try as I might I could not get things to work. I wish I would have cataloged all the trouble I had, but i do remember how I finally reached a solution.
1. I used Wizard Love & this tutorial after by device froze up on the second splash screen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831
-put the wizard into bootloader mode by doing a soft reset and pushing the camera button as it starts.

2. Next I used the English Update Utility here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291215
and moved the .nbk file from the ROM I downloaded(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367534) into the ENGLISH Update Utility Folder. Once again I ran the updater and everything went good.

Now I have a new ROM on my Wizard.
but activesync will not work with a usb cable. ARRRRRG!
Solution:Start>settings> Coinnections> USB to PC unchecked "enable advanced network functionality"

But I cant active sync with bluetooth:ARRRRRG!
I understood how to pair the devices that was done, but I could only use COM ports 6&7 on my Wizard and these were not available on ActiveSync.
First I deleted all partnerships. That didn't work. Finally I rebooted my computer. That worked. Somehow COM Ports 6 & 7 opened up in ActiveSync. Horray!

I could get some calls, but when my wife tried to call me she got pushed to Voicemail. This is clearly a problem. So I applied this patch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357874
Her calls started coming through wonderfully.

More to happen
