Most streams, like on U-tube require a flash player plug-in for your browser. You can find the PPC version at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/
hope that helps.

As of a couple days ago, YouTube has a new site http://m.youtube.com which seems to be linked up with "Windows Media Play" and "HTC Streaming Vidio" program. It works fine. Also, I use Pocket Streamer Pro everyday at work to just listen to music on their preset stations they have. I also use HandiTV to stream stuff.

Hey Dakender, how did you get youtube to work on your phone. When the streams open in WMP I get an error that the type is not supported by WMP and when I tried dl'ing the HTC Streaming Media into the phone, that just doesn't come up at all. When I try to open it manually it says there are some components missing.

How did you get your hands on a working version? Am I missing something? I read that you need to have Camera installed also because they use the same files? Can you give us a step by step on how you got it to work on your Wizard?

FYI - I am using a Cingular 8125 on the 2.25 Rom that comes with it. Thanks in advance!

Well to be honest with you all, I'm really not sure how I got it to work Step-By-Step, but I will try my best.
First off I NEVER use WMP. I use CorePlayer for 90% of things, and when it's streaming stuff I use HTC Streaming Media. Here are a couple links.

http://www.ramonshare.com/files/index.php?share=4&path=TOOLS%2FRvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.cab

or

http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.rar

I can not be for sure they work 100% with the stock Windows Mobile 5.0, I havn't had that for about 6 months now. I can confirm it works with every 6.0 ROM I have flashed. I just got done Flashing My ROM with the new TNT 3.0 and it has the player already built in.

Couple other things that makes it work for me. First off, I can NEVER get it to work if the phone is in Active Sync mode, so be sure it's not hooked up to your PC or atleast not synced. Also, I havn't found a tweak that really works 100% of the time to make WIFI the primary internet connection, If I have a phone singal, so I turn the phone off, and it wont use the GPRS. I have unlimited Internet connections and all that kind of stuff so it's no big deal there but for speed it makes a differance. In some spots in town, when I have GOOD signal, I can watch them even through GPRS, but it's very rare.

Well that is it. Not much I did really. Will try to explain further if needed.

Alrighty, I have been desperately trying to solve the puzzle of streaming video, and I hope that I have come to the correct place...

Allow me to explain step by step what it is that I have...

I have an HTC wizard (Cingular 8125)

Currently it is being used as a pocket PC only, no sim card cause I use it mostly in hotspots with the wifi.

I have TCPMP

I have Opera Browser 8.60 (full)

I have Resco Registry and Resco File Explorer

I have Windows Media Player Mobile 10

I have the latest version of Adobe Mobile Flash 7

I also had minimo .2 but took it off in preference to Opera...

Now that you know what I have, perhaps you can tell me how to get what I want, and explain what I do not know.

One, how do I stream video? I know it works via WiFi cause I was able to do it through WMm10 through their links.

I did the whole streaming media cab, but I keep getting an error that states "The file 'streamingplayer' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found. you might need to reinstall or restore this file."

So of course I tried the last part, but nothing happened.

So the first question is how do i get this thing to work?

Second part is, Could you please explain to me what it is that you flashed your rom with and how did you do it? I am no stranger to flashing my firmware, but cannot seem to locate what it is that you are talking about. Do i need Win Mobile 6?

Any place to point me in a direction is very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Ok, first off, I have never got my 8125 to work with anything but Internet Explorer
(which I admit I HATE, and only use it to stream) and the HTC Streaming Media. I tried both MiniMo, and Opera last night and never did get it
working, but will tweak a few things later and see what I can come up with for
those 2 browsers since I do have them installed too. The two I use for
streaming work hand in hand, the browser must invoke the HTC Streaming Media when you click on a video for it to work thru YouTube. As for any other site, I'm not sure.

As for HTC Streaming Media, This is the link I went to and got it:  CLICK
ME

As for HOW, well, here is exactly how I do it.

1. Turn WiFi on, let it settle and get connected totally before you ever
start the browser (I use IE)

2. Start browser, and go to http://m.youtube.com

3. Scroll through the videos they have to offer and then click on one.

4. Once I click on that, it automatically opens HTC Streaming Media.

5. Watch.

As for Flashing My ROM, well that could take weeks to explain.  I have
been actually Cooking my own ROMS.  Bout the best place I could tell you to
go would be CLICK
HERE
.  I did A WHOLE LOT of reading on all the wizard forums
before I even started to flash and cook.   Yes, I am using Windows
Mobile 6, and if you get the right ROM, it will already be installed.

Well, this is what worked for me. I went to a link, I think it was the one you sent me, and what did it for me was I had to d/l some drivers that were missing for some reason. Enabled wireless g mode through a registry mod. Might not have been necessary, but it does move faster. Set the buffer to about 5-10 seconds, and bikity bam! I now can view m.youtube.com!

But to whomever else may be wanting to do this, the fix that seems to be needed is d/l the drivers pack for HTC streaming Media, and then copy paste them into the windows folder on your phone.

Thanks for the help!

I read all the comments made by everyone on this topic. I then step by step carefully did everything mentioned and I not only have streaming video using IE but also using Opera!!! Please don't ask what I did differently than Dakender because I can't answer that.. I just started HTC streaming video player after turning on WiFi, used Opera to launch m.youtube and it worked. It is even faster and more clear than when using IE, no surprise there..

perhaps you have a newer version of opera. I believe I am using 8.60 or something like that.

Maybe they made it compliant with the new video format.

Check your version and let us know!

Congrats by the way on getting opera to work!

This link could be the solution.

http://thinkabdul.com/2007/07/25/download-adobe-flash-player-7-plug-in-for-windows-mobile-smartphones-supports-swf-files-streaming-media-in-opera-ie-mobile-on-smartphone/

This is a plug-in for Adobe Flash player 7 to play streaming video using Opera.

oooo wicked...

Just curious have you tested this with non mobile web pages that use flash 7? I.E. Break.com ebaumsworld.com etc?

Cause I do know that the new m.youtube.com is not youtube, but a mobile version i have been waiting looking for a long time to stream video on the real internet which is why i wanted to html browser in my phone.

I have found something called orb, and it claims that it will turn your pc into a server of sorts, and convert EVERY VIDEO FORMAT (thats what it says...) into a playable version for your pocket pc, so you can remotely access save movies/shows on your PC.

I am tempted but something about letting a third party scan my computer just doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. (it basically works like skype where you set up an account through them, and then you goto their site via PPC, and then they redirect you to your PC.)

Either way let me know how if you get the above mentioned sites to work.

the problem is Flash 8 has been out for awhile so having flash 7 is kinda pointless unless you can find some old content you've probably already seen.

Isn't ADOBE Flash Player 7 the latest for PPC? At this point I'm not sure any more.. I don't think ADOBE has developed a stand alone player for 7 at this time... So I think we aren't trying to having the latest PC adobe and access the net. We wish to have the latest PPC Adobe (7 I think) and still have the capability to have streaming video.

It seems at this time only mobile web sites, e.g. the infamous "m.youtube" can be accessed, to answer my friends (boe_dye) question. I have tried Break.com and ebaumsworld.com to no avail..

I'm not sure of the size of the latest version of FULL ADOBE for PC. It would be my guess that if it were possible to use it for PPC we wouldn't have a reason for this conversation at all.

ah so...

to answer the the first response, concerning adobe 7/8. Yes they probably have already updated to 8, however usually the preceding version will always work because web developers have better things to do with their days then upgrading their flash content to the latest and greatest. Besides the error message that I always get on PPC is that this site requires flash 7.

Course, I have been involved in other projects (moto modding, and learning ubuntu, and sabayon linux), so i am not exactly up to date with error messages...

Now if i understood what the fellow who hacked 7 was doing (again I have not yet installed and played with it yet) is that his contention was to get the P.C. version onto a Windows Mobile platform. What I can't seem to comprehend is why can't we watch streaming video from ANY site. After all, I.E. Mobile is based off of IE5, and windows mobile is nothing more then a scaled down version of Win (NT/ME i am not sure). Its still HTML, It's still Flash. So what is the problem with reading it? As it is right now, my HTC wizard can just about do everything the iPhone can do, and I can do everything that I normally do on my PC (video music etc...) So if someone could explain what is so freaking magical about playing flash video, i would be greatly appreciative.

In the mean time enjoy the links below... only down side is many of them require your mobile number (which I never give out) or registration..not certain why you must be finger printing and have your retina scanned just to view videos.

Try and see what you like...
