Storage Card

Have had T-Mobile MDA Vario for short while and love it. Am just crawling into 21st Century, so please bear with me. Somewhat naively perhaps inserted Mini SD 2.0GB storage card to Vario and as no accompanying software, and instructions told me to insert and use, expected to be able to download music immediately. However, although Vario knows storage card is there when tried to download music from PC and to receive via bluetooth from another handset it told me insufficient memory and wouldn't receive info.

What have I omitted to do? Please reply in words of one syllable, don't yet understand alot of what I read on your problems/answers pages.

Did you have you MDA turned off when you inserted it? Also, did you try formatting (erasing) it on you computer first?

You haven't got it in read-only mode have you?

Pop the SD card out and look at the very small plastic slider on the card, is it set to read-only/write-protected? If so, slide it the other way and all will be well.

eg. See the white "lock" on the left in this picture of a normal SD card, http://www.belaircamera.com/images/products/SD_l.jpg

Just a thought....

Chris.

I have'nt been able to save directly to the storage card when transferring via BT, so maybe if you transferred just one song at a time and then moved it to the storage card? The built-in memory is very small...

Hi,

Sorry pal but this is the way it goes with Windows mobile. As far as I know, when receiving the files, the default folder would be your "My Documents" folder in the main storage of your device. Up to now I was unable to find a tweak to change it to SD Card, so when your received file is bigger than the free memory in your "Main" memory, the receive fails.
Of course, you can:
- Get smaller files
- Move the current songs, pics, etc. from the main memory to SD

Regards,
Jubin

wm5 storage is a great program that will turn your phone into a usb card reader so that your computer will see it as an usb flash drive. Once activated, you can copy any files to it. It is freeware but I don't remember the actual site I downloaded from.
