Redirect audio to your Bluetooth headset

Bluetooth profiles for streaming and stereo audio are not in the ROM updates that we all have been impatiently waiting for. Untill A2DP becomes available for the HTC Wizard, we'll have to do with the much lower quality of the current profile. That doesn't mean however, that we can't do nifty things with it.

If you are a Skype user, there must have been moments when you wished that you could use Skype with your Bluetooth earpiece. Well, that turns out to be possible.

In this forum topic I found a .zip file containing 3 executable files that you should place on your device. The three files and their functions:

  • BTAudioOn.exe redirects all audio to your paired headset
  • BTAudioOff.exe stops redirection of all audio to your paired headset
  • BTAudioToggle.exe toggles between redirection on and redirection off

Be aware that the current Bluetooth profiles are simply not capable of streaming audio in high quality, so you should only use this trick when you don't have a wired headset to listen to your audio. For use with for example Skype however, this might be exactly what you have been looking for.

You can make access to this program easy by creating a shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, for example with Total Commander

Thanks for posting this, i knew i saw it somewhere and i couldn't remember where. I'd recommend adding this one to the handbook.

also i definitely recommend the "/v" command line argument to let you know that it has succeeded. ESPECIALLY if you are running it in toggle mode.

Hi Guys - finding this web site facinating and have instigated many of the tweeks just today.

Please can you briefly explain how to make the shortcut to the Bluetooth audio toggle using Total Commander? I've placed the .exe toggle file on to my storage card.

Thanks a bunch

Hi Guys,

OK so I've worked out the making of a shortcut for myself now, except that I used RESCO Explorer to do it. However, how do I attach the /v command to the shortcut?

Thanks again

Volume is very low with my 8125 Wizard when connected to my Pioneer 9800BT stereo. It has plenty of volume when playing through my Jabra 250 but I can't get the volume high enough to hear when I connect it through the 9800. Any ideas to make a registry edit to make the volume louder??

Other than that, this is an amazing fix!

"\Storage Card\Program Files\BTAudio\BTAudioToggle.exe"-/v

will solve your issue. The double quotes are needed, b/c of the spaces in the link.

When replying to a question, let's endeavor to spell out the answers in detail. It'll make solving Wizard issues alot quicker. We all seek help; so, let's give help when it's easy.
I've pored over all the info at this site, and got every tweak working. My MDA is about as tweaked as I'll ever want, mostly thanks to all the great help here.

I copied the programs to my card and installed Total Commander...still can't get it. I am relatively new to the MDA and am not sure how to proceed. How do I create a shortcut...and can I assign a soft key to it? Thanks for your help.

The easiest way to create shortcuts is using total commander.
There is a menu option for it.

I did this on my Cingular 8125 and it worked awesome. Now I have a Verizon xv6700 and when I turn on the BT toogle it activates my headset and the voice calling thingus.
When that times out because I'm not actually calling somebody it stops working.... any ideas?
Maybe I should just uninstall it and reeinstall it

BTW this site is way cool!
