What would be the best next model after the HTC Wizard?

Using the Wizard for a while, I wonder what could be improved. What will my next mobile be.

To be honest; in the beginning, my Wizard was amazing and I was VERY carefull with it. But after twoo years of daily use, you can see that it is heavily used and misused. Yes, I admit that it once dropped in a warm bath tumb filled with water and it also dropped out of my pocket several times. The good news; it still works and the damage is minimal (only a few scratches on the cover).

Looking for a magic follow up candidate, I noticed that there is simply nothing better. Okay, some newer HTC models have faster CPU, but HTC has decided to make a big mistake by introducing their own custom non standard HTC USB connector that also is used for headphones. AARRHHGGGHHH. WHYYY?? Is there one customer in the world that loves to get hooked up to a non standard connector? Or does anyone love want to carry a couple of converter cords arround the world?

Besides the in my opinion fatal stupid descision to use non-standard connectors, the faster models are not better because they have almost the same formfactor.

So. Dear HTC folks. Here is wat i Love to buy from you:
Htc Wizard II. This is the same as the old Wizard but with 400Mhz cpu, Windows Mobile 6, half as thick as the original Wizard, 2.0 mpixel camera and a sliding keyboard with silent and soft rubber keys. Okay you can use micro SD instead of mini SD. Nice extra would be a built in GPS receiver.

What do other Wizard users think about that?

Spookily, I was having the same thoughts on the train home this evening!

I can't see any advantage in changing to the TyTn (?) other than the processor. I certainly have had enough issues with the 2.5mm headphone connector on my Vario that the thought of a bigger problem horrifies me!

Not sure I would use a better camera (don't use the existing one, so my choice would be leave it out - maybe two models?). But the GPS Receiver is a great idea. Am I not right in thinking that the HTC Artemis/T-M Compact III has this? So HTC have 'the technology' so as to speak.

I quite like the type of keyboard (excuse the pun) although the TyTn seems a little more positive. Soft keys don't appeal to me.

And the only thing I'd have against moving to microSD would be having to buy a new pack of cards! I've a box of all the old formats that have been used over the years!!!

So, what does anyone else think? And is there anyone 'listening' at HTC who can tell us is we're going to get our wishes?

[EDIT]

I Googled for any info on what HTC are planning and came across details of a new device planned for this year, intriguingly called the Kaiser! http://www.clieuk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?threadid=9057

The most logical successor of the Wizard is the TyTN. It solved two main drawbacks of the Wizard (the slow processor and the missing 'start' and 'close' buttons), but didn't really reduce the thickness.

Personally, I am quite charmed of the Artemis. Because it's so thin and it has a GPS antenna built in. But giving up the keyboard...? Don't think so!

...And we don't need to! Due in a few months: the HTC Kaiser, the successor of HTC Hermes (TyTN), featuring GPS and a fancy tilting screen. All this while being 4 mm thinner than the Hermes and 10% lighter. Also, the ROM is doubled (to 256 MB), the cam now has autofocus, and the USB has been upgraded to 2.0.

Full specs here.

As well as the plus points Andre makes it seems to have access to all phone networks, a scroll wheel, the camera is 2.8MP and there's a 2nd camera.

On the downside, the Kaiser still has a 240x320 screen, proprietary audio out, mono speaker and a microSD slot (as opposed to the Wizards miniSD, so there's another cost)

The BIG disappointment is the screen resolution; surely we should have expected VGA?

So, on balance is it the one we are all waiting for? It ticks most of my boxes so I might go for it.

The audio-out is a mistake, I agree. The microSD is the current standard, I think. (Even though I regret it as well)

The screen resolution is a different story. Of course, the more the better. However, I also want a device that fits in my trouser pocket. Having said that, it means that the screen cannot really grow much more. In which case more pixels means smaller pixels.

Since I'm not dissatisfied with the size of the pixels, I'm happy with QVGA.

The Kaiser looks like the gadget I was waiting for.
Any idea when it will be out and how much it will cost?
