Stereo Bluetooth on your HTC Wizard

The AKU2 updates for the HTC Wizard were suposed to include A2DP, i.e. a stereo bluetooth profile. While the AKU2 ROMs were still being tested rumours leaked that HTC had problems with compatibility and stability and that A2DP would be pushed back to a later ROM update. When I-Mate was the first to release its AKU2 ROM for the K-Jam the rumours turned out to have become reality, no stereo Bluetooth.

There is a AKU2 ROM out there that does include A2DP. A test ROM for the Qtek 9100 including A2DP leaked. That ROM is still available in some places on the Internet and is being used by those who can't live wit a AKU2 ROM without A2DP included.

Yesterday, an update for the Qtek 9000 (HTC Universal) was released, and what do you know! It includes A2DP. That is very comforting to see. It was feared that HTC had run into hardware problems while testing the A2DP. This release for the Qtek 9000 seems to indicate that the problems were actualy software related. Now that is easier to fix than hardware problems don't you think?

Does anyone know of a good stereo bluetooth headset?

No, what it means is that the XScale in the Uni is more capable of handling A2DP, which is *very* processor intensive. A2DP doesn't perform up to production standards on a Wizard because of the limited CPU.

i've got the motorola ht820 bt stereo headphones, which i like. they sound good, and the mic is pretty decent even in the wind. i've tried them with the qtek rom, and the audio is problematic. it had a lot of pauses. i haven't tried to overclock my wizard as of yet, so no idea if that helps. on a down side, i even get occasional audio dropouts on my new thinkpad t60p, which i find disappointing. it's pretty much at random, and it could be the headphones, but i really don't have any way to tell...
