Does anybody know how to have the wiz keep the keyboard focus when switching to landscape mode (pulling the keyboard out)?

for instance:
1) in normal mode, create a new message or new calendar appointment. the text cursor is blinking on the first line.
2) pull out the keyboard. the "focus" on that first line is now lost, and i have to click on it in order to input from the keyboard.

this really bugs me...! anybody have any ideas?
