There is a registry entry HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Inbox/Settings/DisableSMSDeliveryReceipt which is 0 by default. Does anyone know if making it 1 will show delivery receipts.

????????????

I finally figured out how to enable SMS delivery notification on HTC wizard (Cingular 8125) Just go to HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Inbox/Settings/SMSDeliveryNotification and change dword from default 0 to 1. Bingo

Note that delivery receipts are also dependent on whether or not your provider has them turned on. Some providers to not offer receipt service.

1. Start a new SMS message.
2. Click on the MENU softkey
3. Pick Message options
4. Check or uncheck the box as needed.

The reg setting makes it redundent to go to that option. Ensuring you get a delivery receipt for all sent SMSs.

For some reason the "Message options" is masked on my 8125.Its on the latest rom 2.25 from Cingular.

My Wizard shows "message pending" notifications as "message delivered", which makes it pretty useless. It doesn't seem to be an error of my Telco (Orange), since my old phones (Nokia 6100 and 6610) work correctly.

Is this a more common bug, I wonder?

I wondered too if this is a common bug. It seems to be so. Does this work for delivery receipts? What is a delivery receipt for anyway? I'll try this out later. Hope my service provider provides it though. Thanks for the info!

A delivery receipt is a receipt that reports that your SMS has been delivered at the receipiants phone. Your service provider has to support it, which is not always the case. Some also provide bogus support in the sense that you always get instantaneouly a delivery receipt, independant from actual delivery.

However the proper functionality is that upon sending an SMS, you either get a delivery notification in the case the SMS could be delivered straight away. Otherwise you get a pending notification, followed by a delivery notification as soon as SMS is actually delivered (e.g. when the phone is switched on again, or when the phone has signal again). If the SMS is not delivered within a certain time (usually 72 hours), a non-delivery notification is sent.

So how do you turn them off? All the mods that I've found such as changing the above to 1 etc don't seem to make any difference
