I got tired of waiting for the Cingular 8525 to come out so I went ahead and bought an HTC TyTn (636 series). It only came in last night so I haven't had much time to use it, but so far I'm really happy. It's definitely an improvement over the Wizard/8125. Using my Cingular 64K SIM card I got with the Wizard I was able to connect the the 3G network in the Northern VA/DC area. Various DSL Reports speed tests showed avg download speed around 500kbps. Google Maps is real snappy downloading maps, traffic, and searching. Skype works well over 3G and WiFi. I've only tried a limited number of apps so I haven't found any compatibility problems.

I'm not sure I like the button layout. The d-pad isn't as nice as the one on the Wizard. It looks better, but it's not as easy to use since it's completely flat and so small. I wish they would've put the two "soft buttons" right below the screen instead of combining them with the start and ok buttons. The scroll wheel is a nice addition but I sometimes accidentally hit the voice command button while using it one-handed. One major annoyance is that on the Wizard I could quickly and easily go into vibrate mode holding the Comm Manager button. That's not so on the TyTn.

Call quality seems good so far. I'm impressed with the 3G reception even deep down inside the basement of some large buildings. I haven't experienced any radio problems reported elsewhere when driving to and from 3G areas.

Can't really think of anything else right now. I like it. I'm waiting on my case and 2GB TransFlash card. I would've preferred MiniSD. The MicroSD is extremely small and it worries me a bit. Maybe a latch to prevent accidentally ejecting it would've been a good idea.

Thanks for the review. I was thinking of getting a TyTn, but now I'm having second thoughts. Although you mention that it performs quite well, I'd rather get another model. Especially since I much rather favor ease of use in my criteria. Still, maybe i'll try it out somewhere. Maybe it'll suit me. Thanks again!
