Automatically run Java midlets using IBM's J9 VMSubmitted by sfiorito on Wed, 20/09/2006 - 16:54. Software
This is an update to my previous article (http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/1071) on installing IBM's J9 VM on your device and running Google Maps with it. By making 2 small registry tweaks you can have any application automatically run JAR or JAD files with J9. Using your favorite registry editor, set the "(Default)" value in the following keys to point to the emulator.exe on your device. In my case it was the following (include the double quotes):
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jadfile\Shell\Open\Command So now when I download any midlet it automatically opens and runs using J9. I tested this out with Google Maps and Opera Mini. You'll have to do a soft reset after making your registry changes. -- sfiorito's blog | login or register to post comments | delicious | digg | reddit | technorati | 16122 reads
