Extending the keyboard backlight timeout...

I don't know if anyone else has run into this, but...

I frequently text/e-mail/surf in the dark, and find my keyboard backlight timing out before I'm done using it, essentially. I mean, I might type a sentence or two, take a pause, and come back to type some more after 5 seconds (just an estimate, honestly haven't timed it) and the keys have gone dark.

I have to hit a key on the keyboard to get them to light back up, and this is obviously not that big of a deal, but what's the point of a tweakable device if you can't tweak all the little things you run into, user to user!?!

If anyone has any input on this, it'd be greatly appreciated, as always. And if anyone has any updated info on the ringtone relocation topic, that'd kickass too if anyone wants to make their way over to that post! ;-D

That is to bad.I have my cingular 8125 for 4 days now and have done hours and hours of research and joined many web forums to locate a fix.
My calls went to S.Africa and got cut off so many times I gave up. Any way glad to find out it's a hardwre issue. At least I can quit the search with out feeling like a quiter.

Any hope that someone here (or anywhere, whatever) could whip up a nifty little utility to resolve this issue?

Something that would simulate an occasional pressing of keys on the keyboard, like a quick left arrow then right arrow (or something else clever and nifty) to span the backlight a bit longer?

I've never been great at engineering, just conceptualization!

Great idea... Wish I could program that...

Someone should get this idea over to the XDA dev forums.
