I upgraded my Cingular 8125 successfuly on

1. K-JAM
2. T-Mobile
3. 8125 MOD from xda developers

In all the above cases, i guess it is more of a feature, you can unhide the extended ROM but you cannot write anything to it.

Hi All

If you dont want all the ForcedWare from Cingular then do the following:

1. 3 Finger Salute to Reset the device. Press and hold the "Comm Manager" button and "Voice Dial" button and press & release the soft reset.

2. Press the "Send" button to reset the device (the green phone button)

3. WHen the phone reboots and after you are done with the usual display setup, it will prompt you "tap anywhere in the screen to begin"
